Do the bungalows have private bathrooms?

No. Two bathrooms with hot showers are shared among the three bungalows and kept separate from them. Toiletries are provided.

When are your low-season rates?

From April 16 to December 14. High-season rates apply from December 15 to April 15, and holiday dates are priced higher.

Can I cook my own meals?

Yes. The shared kitchen in the Boathouse has a gas stove and instant hot water.

A room of your own, without resort prices

At the budget end of Bocas del Toro, most of what you will find is hostels. Ours are freestanding bungalows in a waterfront garden: your own door, a queen bed (or three twins in Purple), a fan and good bedding.

What keeps the price down is what we share. The kitchen, lounge, decks and two hot-shower bathrooms belong to all three bungalows, and nobody is paying for a lobby or a pool.

Keeping the rest of the trip affordable

Cook some of your meals. The Boathouse kitchen has a gas stove and instant hot water, and the table looks out over the sea.
Walk. Downtown restaurants, dive shops and water-taxi docks are seven minutes away on foot, and shared taxis around Bocas Town cost a dollar or two per person.
Swim from home. The beaches in town aren’t for swimming, but our ladder goes straight into the sea.
Ride instead of chartering. Bikes rent for about $5–10 a day, enough for Bluff Beach on a dry morning.
Agree boat fares first. Water taxis charge per person, not per boat. Carenero is a couple of minutes across the channel; Red Frog Beach is about fifteen.
Come in low season. The nightly rate drops by $20 to $26 between mid-April and mid-December.
