A long stay changes what matters. A pretty room is pleasant on the first night; by the twentieth you care about the kitchen, the shower, the walk to the shops and how quiet the evenings are.
The kitchen is out over the water. The Boathouse kitchen has a gas stove and instant hot water, with a dining table and a lounge beside it, so cooking most of your meals is easy. Two bathrooms with hot showers stand apart from the bungalows and are shared among the three.
Town is on foot. Downtown Bocas is a seven-minute walk, with the restaurants, dive shops and docks for water taxis to the other islands. Bocas Town is small enough to walk all over, and bikes rent for about $5–10 a day for the ride out to Bluff Beach.
Keep some cash on hand. The archipelago’s ATMs are in Bocas Town; guides report none on the other islands, and many water taxis and small businesses take cash only.
Expect rain, and enjoy the lulls. Bocas has no predictable dry season, so over a month you will see showers whatever the season. Several sources describe September and October as a calmer, drier spell. Our month-by-month weather guide has the detail.
Working remotely? There is internet in the Boathouse. If your work depends on video calls, message us before you book and we will tell you plainly what the connection is like.
